Immobilized Enzyme Technology

  • Enzymes used commercially and in daily life are extracted from natural resources such as bacteria or produced synthetically.
  • Immobilized enzymes combine with inert and insoluble substances to increase their resistance to changes in pH and temperature.
  • The enzyme molecules:
    • remain in the same position throughout the catalytic reaction;
    • are easily separated from the products.
  • This method is known as immobilized enzyme technology.

  • Medical sector: Digestive enzymes.
  • Juice production: Pectinase and cellulase.
  • Lactose-free milk: Lactase.
  • Bio detergent: Amylase, lipase, protease and cellulase.
